Theresa Clark

I would like to welcome you to my website, my name is Theresa Clark and I am a pluralistic counsellor who specialises in addiction.

I was drawn to this image of the eggs because each of them are individual and I believe this reflects the diversity of the people that I have gotten to know over the years. We are all unique and through conversation we can discover new things about ourselves.

My Approach

I am a counsellor who uses a person-centred approach that is confidential and non-judgemental so that we can work collaboratively to help you reach your goals or explore what has brought you to seek help. Over the years I have found that a Pluralistic approach is valuable because it builds on our relationship and the understanding as we move forward  and discover what is meaningful in our lives.

About Me

I had found counselling to be incredibly helpful at a period in my life when I felt overwhelmed.  The offer of a trusting relationship helped me to make the decisions as to how to move forward with my life.

I have been a counsellor for over fifteen years working mainly in the third sector specialising in addictive behaviour and I have been a supervisor for four years. I have found that at the route of this there is emotional pain, trauma and complex trauma, that has resulted in additional anxiety and depression. This may have been triggered by bereavement, loss or other issues that may not always be obvious, but you sense that something needs to change.

Additionally, I have facilitated self-help groups for an number of years where we used rational emotional behavioural therapy (REBT). What this means is that we look at our thoughts, feeling and what can potentially trigger certain behaviours.

Services

I offer a one-time free consultation either over the phone or zoom. This will be used to explore what it is that you would like to address and what methods we could possibly use to move forward.

For my clinical supervision services I am offering a safe place to reflect on your self-care and practice. I am registered with the BACP and can offer support online or face-to-face.
